American Economic Associationの2007年conferenceがいまシカゴで開催されている．プログラムを眺めて思うのは，経済学といってもとても範囲が広いことと，新しい分野をどんどん取り入れていること．

  • Session: Decision Theory: New Methods, New Insights

神経経済学のセッション．座長は神経経済学の第一人者であるNew York UniversityのGlimcher．そのGlimcherの発表は"Measuring Discounted Value Using Brain Imaging"．Glimchaer研究室と著書 " Decisions, Uncertainty, and the Brain:The Science of Neuroeconomics"．続いて，Andrew Caplinの"Dopamine and Choice"がある．彼はNew York Universityの経済学の教授で，Center for Experimental Social Scienceのco-Directorである．2004年にJournal of Political Economy（112(6): 1257-1268）に発表した"The Social Discount Rate"では個人の時間選好ではなくて，慈悲深い社会計画者による時間選好に基づく公共政策を提唱．

  • Session: Field Experiments in Pecuniary and Non-Pecuniary Donations

実験経済学系のセッション．座長はUniversity of California, San Diego校のJames Andreoni氏．利他主義や利他的行動の問題は避けて通れないので勉強しなくちゃ．

  • Session: Biological Evolution and Economics

座長はUniversity of ChicagoのLuis Rayo氏．Theodore C. Bergstrom (University of California, Santa Barbara)による"Some Evolutionary Economics of Family Partnerships"．1993年にはAmerican Economic Review誌に“How Altruism Can Prevail in Evolutionary Environments”，1995年には“On the Evolution of Altruistic Ethical Rules for Siblings”という論文など，利他主義に関する第一人者．次は，座長のRayo氏による" Evolutionary Efficiency and Happiness"．原稿はここ．これはGary S.Becker氏との共著．次は，Arthur J. Robson氏 (Simon Fraser University)とHillard S. Kaplan氏 (University of New Mexico)による興味深いタイトルの" Why do We Die? Economics, Biology and Aging"．Robson氏は，Journal of Economic Literature（39 (2001), 11-33.）に "The Biological Basis of Economic Behavior"を書いた人．彼のページを見ると最新のペーパーは，"The Economics of Hunter-Gatherer Societies and the Evolution of Human Characteristics"（Canadian Journal of Economics 39(2) May 2006, pp. 375-398）．要チェック．最後は，Larry Samuelson (University of Wisconsin-Madison)とArthur Robsonによる "The Evolution of Intertemporal Incentives"．時間選好の問題は特に，進化論的解釈が必要な分野だ．
